East Bay Kids Triathlon (EBKT)
The East Bay Kids Triathlon (EBKT) is an exciting new event designed exclusively for kids aged 4 to 17, offering a fun and supportive introduction to multisport racing. Whether your child is a first-time triathlete or an experienced competitor, there’s a perfect event for them!
Triathlon Options
Participants can choose from three thrilling triathlon events:
Kids Tri (Ages 4-15) – A traditional triathlon where kids can opt for either a competitive or non-competitive experience.
Super-Sprint (Ages 11-17) – Designed for older athletes, this event offers longer distances for those ready to push their limits. Kids aged 11-15 can choose between the standard or Super-Sprint distances.
Duathlon (Run-Bike-Run)
For kids who prefer to stay dry, the duathlon offers an exciting alternative. Participants will start with a run, transition to a bike ride, and finish strong with another run—covering the same distances as the triathlon bike/run segments.
Non-Competitive (Ages 7 & Under)
Our youngest athletes (ages 7 and under) can participate with the help of a parent or adult. Parents may accompany their child throughout the course, including standing poolside and assisting during transitions. Because of this additional support, these participants will not be timed or ranked.
Competitive (Ages 6-15)
For those ready to race independently, our competitive division challenges kids ages 6-15 to complete the triathlon on their own. Parents of ages 6-10 may assist with setup and cleanup in the transition area, but athletes 11 and up are expected to handle the race independently.
